Terms of purchase
Effective 26 October 2026Contact Pixelroots
For questions about Pixelroots or your purchase, contact hello@pixelroots.org.
Your place on the board
You purchase a licence to display your image or text, background colour and optional website link in a selected rectangle on the Pixelroots board. This is advertising space, not ownership of land or a particular tree. The board contains 1,000 × 1,000 logical pixels.
Your patch is displayed while Pixelroots operates, for at least 12 months after payment unless you request its removal, receive a refund, or breach these terms. We do not promise a number of visitors, clicks, sales or search rankings. A website link may open an external website in a new tab.
Price and payment
The price is US$1 per pixel, including any applicable taxes. The total is the width multiplied by the height, shown before you pay. There is no subscription or shipping charge. Your bank may apply currency conversion or other charges. Each side of your selected rectangle must be at least 5 pixels. You may purchase any available rectangle up to the entire board. Buying the full 1,000 × 1,000 board includes a US$0.01 discount, for a total of US$999,999.99.
Stripe securely processes payment. We do not receive or store your full card details. Pixels are held during checkout and are published only after Stripe confirms successful payment. Some payment methods take longer to confirm; their pixels remain reserved while payment is pending. An expired or failed checkout does not purchase a patch.
One pixel funds one tree
Each paid, non-refunded pixel commits Pixelroots to funding one tree. The “Trees planted & queued” counter includes that commitment as soon as payment is confirmed. This does not mean a tree is planted at the moment of purchase: it joins the planting queue. Queued trees will be planted as soon as the planting season, weather and local conditions allow. Completed planting is recorded separately, with evidence on our impact page. We do not promise an individual tree location, ownership, survival guarantee or a carbon offset.
Your content
You keep your rights to your content and give us permission to store, resize and publicly display it for the service. You must have the necessary rights to the artwork, text, trademarks and linked website. Do not submit unlawful material, impersonation, scams, malware, pornography, hate or targeted harassment, or content that infringes someone else’s rights. Do not publish personal information without permission.
We may hide content to investigate a report or prevent harm. Contact support to correct a mistake or appeal a moderation decision. We may remove prohibited material. This does not limit any statutory refund or consumer rights.
All sales are final
Pixel purchases are non-refundable, except where applicable law requires otherwise. We do not offer voluntary refunds for a change of mind, unused space or a decision to remove your patch. Please check your selection, artwork, text and link before paying.
This policy does not exclude mandatory consumer rights, including any applicable right to withdraw within 14 days of purchase or remedies for duplicate charges, payment errors or a service that is not provided as described. Where a statutory right to withdraw applies, use the online withdrawal form or email your name, purchase email and order reference. We will acknowledge the request and make any required refund to the original payment method within the applicable legal deadline, normally 14 days. A refunded patch is removed from the board.
To report a problem or illegal content, contact us. Include the order reference or patch coordinates and a clear description. We aim to respond within two working days.
Changes and applicable rights
The terms shown when you buy apply to that purchase. Operational changes must not materially reduce a paid service without an appropriate remedy. Polish law applies, without removing the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence. Nothing here excludes liability or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
